Advertising photography

Image
This image is of a bottle of Kopparberg cider, a well known beer. It was taken by the photographer Davi d Cantwell. What I like about this photo is the droplets of condensation on the bottle. This makes the cider look refreshing to drink. This is another photo taken by the photographer David Cantwell of an advertisement for a meal at four star pizza. When seeing all of the food included in the deal spread out it makes the meal look big. The typography in this advertisement also help sell this deal with the use of the plus bullet points under the pizza to to show what you are getting extra with the pizza. The third photo I chose by David Cantwell was an advertisement for Kerrigans butchers. What I like about this advertisement is that the lighting reflecting off the meat gives a nice gloss effect. I also like the rustic feel that the advertisement gives with the wood chopping block with objects kike string and knives

image manipulation stage 1

Image
Brainstorm ideas: For my research I found that my preferred style of image manipulation was those that created images that would not be possible in real life. The reasons why I enjoy these types of images is because they remind me of something that can only be thought of when thinking creatively and trying to think of the craziest and interesting looking photos possible. After getting inspiration from the internet of different kinds of image manipulation I then started to look at photographers and artists work. This image was made by Anna Maghradze who mostly does image manipulation that involves making people transparent, invisible or distorted. I like how the person is transparent enough to see that it is a person but not too much invisible so its hard to tell what you are looking at. I also like the fact that part of the hat and scarf are still visible so that you get a rough idea of what this person might look like. There is something that I dont like which is that ...

Deconstruct and RE-CREATE A Portrait Assignment part 1

Image
Here is the photo that I took to recreate the image taken by Michael Silver taking my own creative spin on it. What I did differently than Michael Silver is that instead of doing the black and white I chose the colour red. What I also did different is include more detail of what the model is wearing and decided not to show the models eyes which is to do with why I chose the colour red as the main colour. The reason why is because red is a colour that can be seen either as representing love or anger. In the original photo the eyes are what portrayed the anger and because there is no way of seeing the eyes of the model so you can tell by looking at the model without seeing his eyes what emotion he is currently feeling. I did the red colour by attaching a red sheet to the light on the side which allowed me to keep the Rembrandt effect that was in the original photo. The jacket used is similar, black but to add more the jacket itself is covered in patches to give more to look at.

lab 5 lighting ratios

Image
For lab 5 we took pictures covering lighting ratios in the studio.

bounced flash and off camera flash

Image
In this photo I took a picture of someone in front of a white backdrop. What I like about this shot is that the flash illuminates the the white backdrop and makes the subject even more dominant in the photo. For this image I took a picture from the side of the subject which gave lighting to only one side of the image. The flash from the side gives the effect that lighting could be coming from natural lighting in a window. This photo was taken similarly to the one previous. I took this one with a different distance to capture more of the backdrop to show even more contrast in the lighting in each side of the picture. For my forth image I took a photo from the other side of a hallway with the flash angled upwards. This lessened the intensity of the flash which gave a hue around the subject.
